Description
Instructor Led. Designed for civil engineers involved in road subdivision design, this comprehensive program empowers civil designers to create, edit, analyse and publish road subdivision projects using Civil Site Design.
Throughout the course, participants will engage in practical exercises and real-world examples, fostering a hands-on learning environment. Our experienced instructors will guide you through each module, providing valuable insights and tips to empower you to competently undertake road subdivision projects, generate design models, and output setout, long sections, cross sections, plan linework and 3D model viewing. By the course's conclusion, participants will have acquired the essential skills to confidently navigate and leverage Civil Site Design for their road subdivision projects.
Pre Requisites
1 year hands-on experience with the software or have completed the Civil 3D site fundamentals course
This course parallels much of the learning in the Civil Site Design | Road Reconstruction Fundamentals but with more focus on new road designs and exploring road subdivision projects.
Course Outline
Civil Site Design Strings Introduction. Strings form the foundation of Civil Site Design. Understand what a String is and how they are used in road subdivision projects.
Civil Site Design Templates. Templates are a fundamental building block of Civil Site Design to represent design cross sections. Explore the functionality to create Templates suitable for various elements in a road network, including management of pavement layers.
Civil Site Design Grading. Extending upon the Fundamentals course, deep dive into the process for using site grading for non linear design elements, such as building pads, retaining walls, and overall site grading.
Civil Site Design Road Strings and Models. Understand the power of Road Strings in road subdivision projects, including management of the vertical design and cross sections, and extraction of section volumes. We’ll look into applying Templates and editing cross section codes, and see how design surface models can be constructed of your designs.
Civil Site Design Network Strings. Understand how to incorporate design strings that connect to Roads, including: kerb returns, cul-de-sacs, knuckles and roundabouts. Understand how network strings connect to roads and how they are applied in road network models.
Civil Site Design Modelling. We will introduce you to the power of design models to build surfaces (including subgrade surfaces), calculate volumes and create cross section outputs representing all your design strings and cross sections.
Civil Site Design Outputs. After all the work in design, see how to quickly and accurately produce outputs: point setout, long sections, cross sections and reports.
